Privacy Policy
Effective date: August 22, 2026
This is old-school app development: pay once, get full access, forever. No accounts, no logins, no information collected, no advertising. Everything runs entirely on your device, with the only exception being iCloud, which Apple uses to back up and sync your data across your own devices. Beyond that, I honestly have no idea how you're using the app unless you reach out and tell me. If you ever want to share feedback, hello@coffeecellar.app is always open.
Coffee Cellar & Diary ("the app," "we," "us") is an iOS app for iPhone and iPad that helps you track your coffee bean stock and brewing notes. This page explains what information the app handles and how, in plain language.
Information we collect
The app is built to work without an account or a server we operate. The information you enter (coffee bags, tasting notes, brew recipes, ratings, and similar entries) is stored on your device and, if you have iCloud enabled, synced across your own devices via Apple's iCloud, tied to your personal Apple ID.
We do not run our own servers, and we do not receive, view, access, or store a copy of this data ourselves. It stays between your device(s) and your iCloud account, governed by Apple's own privacy policy.
The app also stores a handful of local preferences on your device, like your chosen units or display settings, using standard iOS on-device storage (UserDefaults). These stay on your device and are never transmitted anywhere.
TestFlight and beta testing
Before a release goes to the App Store, the app may be distributed for beta testing through Apple's TestFlight. If you asked to take part and gave us your email address, and optionally your name, we use it for one thing only: sending you the TestFlight invitation and, where necessary, replying to you about the beta.
We do not use it for marketing, we do not add you to a mailing list, and we do not share it with anyone. Your details are deleted as soon as the beta testing phase ends. You can ask to be removed at any point before then by emailing hello@coffeecellar.app, and we'll delete your details and remove you from the tester list.
Once you are testing, TestFlight itself is operated by Apple. Any crash reports, feedback, or usage data you send through TestFlight are handled by Apple under Apple's privacy policy, and we only ever see them in the aggregated, anonymised form App Store Connect provides.
Purchases
Coffee Cellar & Diary is a one-time paid app with no subscriptions or in-app purchases. All payment processing is handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never receive, see, or store your payment card details or billing information: Apple manages that transaction directly.
Analytics and advertising
We do not use third-party analytics, tracking, or advertising SDKs in the app. We may refer to Apple's own aggregated, anonymized App Store sales and usage analytics (available to all developers through App Store Connect) to understand overall app performance. This data is not tied to you individually and is not shared with us in an identifiable form.
Data sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share personal data with third parties. We are not able to, since we don't collect or hold your app data on any server in the first place.
Children's privacy
Coffee Cellar & Diary is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your data, your control
Because your entries live in your own iCloud account rather than on our servers, you are in control of them directly:
- Delete individual entries any time within the app.
- Deleting the app removes its local data from your device.
- To manage or delete the app's iCloud data across all your devices, go to Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Manage Account Storage on your iPhone or iPad.
Data retention
We don't retain any of your app data ourselves, since it isn't collected centrally. It exists only on your device and in your personal iCloud account for as long as you choose to keep it there.
Changes to this policy
If anything about how the app handles data changes; for example, if we introduce a new feature that uses a server or a third-party service, we'll update this page and the effective date above accordingly.
